“Making radio is always collective. It involves making, unmaking, remaking, trial and error. Experimentation and failure are integral parts of the process. Radio is everywhere and we can listen to it everywhere at once, not only frequency by frequency. We can make radios that receive plural signals and resist the clear channel. Radio is nowhere until it can be heard. We can make radios that resist, and radios that neither receive nor transmit a signal yet do not break down. Radio is everywhere; it does not ask to be heard. Radio waves are timeless, organic and physical. Radio waves travel through our bodies and fill the universe. The signals and messages we perceive on radio depend on our position, the weather, our material state and our mental state. Our hands can be the antennae of intangible electromagnetic waves. Radio is relationship.”
