(Or Listen to the whispers of the Universe)
A sound installation featuring an ephemeral radio transmission of Etel Adnan’s work of the same name, translated into Morse code.
“Radio offers a world of unspoken communication between speaker and listener.”
Marshall McLuhan, Understanding Media (1964).
The choice of Morse code links listening, distance and communication under conditions of restriction, transforming the text into a signal that temporarily occupies radio space.
The transmission was available on 108 FM and the installation was presented at ANTI Liburudenda bookshop (Bilbao) between 7 and 23 March 2024.
Dedicated to the artist and travelling companion Donia Jourabchi.
“Radio as a negotiation between the material and the immaterial”
