Sound-based research on the sonic memory of armed conflict
A project developed with Flo Huth and other musicians based in Mannheim, investigating how armed conflict persists in memory through sound.
The research examines the acoustic associations through which we recognise and remember military violence. Interviews, news reports and documentary archives provide a starting point for asking which sounds we attribute to war and how such listening conditions our perception of the present.
The process unfolds through archival work, conversation, composition and sound improvisation, and takes different public forms: research, artistic work and publication.
